International Shipholding Corporation
ISC, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in various types of waterborne freight transportation emphasizing medium to long term charters and includes pure car/truck carrier services, roll-on/roll-off, breakbulk and bulk carrier services, domestic coastwise services, and rail-ferry transportation services. We are water transportation specialists providing unique solutions to the needs of our diversified customer base with emphasis on medium to long-term contracts and charters.
Our principal subsidiaries are Central Gulf Lines, Inc., Waterman Steamship Corporation, LCI Shipholdings, Inc., LMS Shipmanagement, Inc., and CG Railway, Inc. These subsidiaries, together with our other subsidiaries and companies in which we have invested, operate a fleet of ocean-going vessels and related shore side handling facilities. As of December 31, 2006, our fleet included 28 vessels.
CG Railway, Inc. a subsidiary of International Shipholding Corporation is a Short Line railroad established March 2000. CG Railway connects the railways of Southern Mexico to the railways serving the United States and Canada.
Waterman Steamship, a United States flag shipping company since it’s founding in 1919, is a principal subsidiary of International Shipholding Corporation (ISC), a public company whose shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Waterman Steamship is a deep sea ocean carrier operating US flag vessels in liner service and time charter contracts.
We have offices in New York, Mobile, AL and Shanghai and we maintain a network of marketing agents in major cities worldwide. Our common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: ISH).
Company History
International Shipholding Corporation (ISC) was originally founded as Central Gulf Steamship Corporation in 1947 by the late Niels F. Johnsen, and his sons, Niels W. Johnsen and Erik F. Johnsen, both Directors of the Company. As the aftereffects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita became more significant the Company made the decision to relocate. In April, 2007 the Company relocated from New Orleans, Louisiana to the RSA Tower in Mobile, Alabama.
