Lay, Pitman & Associates (LP&A) is seeking a motivated entrylevel Naval Architect to join our longestablished naval architecture and marine engineering firm. Since 1959, LP&A has built a reputation for designing unique, highquality vessels that meet a wide range of client needs, including passenger vessels, research vessels, workboats and specialty marine projects.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to learn, grow professionally and contribute to the design and modification of marine vessels. Applicants must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
The Naval Architect will support a variety of engineering and design tasks, including:
Performing stability calculations and structural calculations for marine vessels Assisting with vessel design and drafting Supporting the development or modification of vessel plans, specifications, and engineering documentation Collaborating with senior engineers on technical studies, analyses and design solutions Learning and applying relevant regulatory standards (ABS, USCG, NAVSEA) and industry practices Travel required: Participating in ship checks, surveys or fieldwork as needed
Qualifications
BS in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering Strong willingness and ability to learn new skills, tools and engineering methods Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Software Skills
Candidates should be familiar with or able to learn:
AutoCAD Microsoft Word and Excel GHS (General HydroStatics)
