Epsilon Systems Solutions is seeking a full-time Naval Architect in San Diego, CA.Â
Summary: The Naval Architect will provide full-time onsite support for equipment and systems to include Naval Architecture, coatings, watertight enclosures, and docking evolutions.Â
Duties and Responsibilities:        Â
Investigate complex and diverse engineering problems presented in IDRs, TAAS AWRs, and CFRs. Â
Perform ship checks and provide detailed reports documenting structural issues and recommended repairs. Â
Perform engineering analytical tasks to identify and correct system deficiencies and provide technical solutions in the form of drawings, memoranda, reports and sketches. Â
Support Project Support Engineer and Coordinator for handling all technical issues that arise. Â
Interface with project personnel on all matters pertaining to program management, administration, and work assignments for this program. Â
Perform complex engineering calculations for design development and to calculate strength, vibration behavior, and safety of modifications and/or repairs to the ship.Â
Prepare layout and detail drawings and sketches for varied and complex design projects, such as SHIPALTs and repairs. Â
Interface with CHENG and Deputy CHENG to address ship non-conformances, assess risk, and provide recommendations for new and existing ship structural and material DFSs. Â
Assist reviewing production contractor Work Items, access cut plans, design calculations, and other structural engineering related documents for accuracy and technical acceptability.Â
Coordinate with other engineering personnel, production and maintenance team, ships force, NAVSEA, ISEAs, NSWCs, RMCs, and others as required to develop solutions for naval architecture related issues. Â
Review SARs, design technical products, and deliverables with supporting estimates for final review by Government in support of the accomplishment of SHIPALTs.Â
Interface with cognizant executing activity and planning yard representatives on final design products for technical accuracy and conformance to NAVSEA requirements prior to final acceptance by the Government.                      Â
Required Qualifications:Â
Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Oceaneering, Naval Architecture or related major.Â
Minimum of two (2) years general experience with the installation, operation, repair, testing and maintenance of naval or marine structure and preservation systems.Â
Experience in the assessment, repair, and maintenance of structure and coating systems on US Naval ships.Â
Have knowledge about sheet-metal, preservation, nonskid, materials, insulation, piping and welding on Navy Ships.Â
Hands-on experience with this equipment in the last two years.Â
Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, inspections, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.Â
Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.Â
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.Â
Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.Â
Ability to obtain and maintain an active SECRET clearance.Â
Pay Rate:
The pay range for this role is $32.30 to $39.50 hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships)Â

Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to graspÂ
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positionsÂ
Ability to wear a respiratorÂ
Frequently lifts, carries and helps setup tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 poundsÂ
May be required to go aloft onboard ships to inspect Tanks, Voids, Spaces, and Superstructures.Â
Incumbent may be required to operate at sea for multi-week intervals as part of mission requirements.
